If you’re not celebrating Valentine’s Day like me (hey, I’m single), entertain yourself by watching the Northern Lights! Tonight and tomorrow night’s auroras will be GREEN, RED, AND MAGENTA!! There’s apparently a geomagnetic storm heading our way, making the most out of the Earth’s magnetic phenomenon.

Scandinavian Aurora Borealis / Northern Lights Webcams & Photos

Hey everybody, there’s a light show going on as we speak! Solar flares might be responsible for this latest and brightest phenomenon.
Since my last post about the Northern Lights, I wanted to give you a website for checking out Scandinavian webcams: http://www.spaceweatherlive.com/en/auroral-activity/webcams. Go now!!
It’s a page that shows webcams from Norway, Finland and Sweden – if you “scroll” through the webcams starting with the first one at the top (use the left and right arrow buttons), I noticed that the webcams start cycling through automatically. That said, you should know that sometimes the webcams are covered in clouds, snow, or moonlight, so auroras aren’t always visible. But when they are, they’re spectacular!
This is a webcam screen shot I took Feb 6th from Tromsø, Norway – check out the neon green (I think it’s an antenna in the center):

In order to see where Auroras are most likely, check out this NOAA page for an updated map that refreshes every 30 seconds.
